Accessibility Statement

The websites and portals operated by Euskadi.net are committed to guaranteeing universal access, regardless of any technical, physical, sensorial or intellectual limitations of the users. This commitment is reflected in the measures we have already adopted to improve accesibiility and in the formulation of a new accessibility policy to adapt all our sites to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) recommended by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the Word Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Measures adopted

- Basic technologies: the technical language of the content conforms to XHTML 1.0 standards and the visual presentation to CSS 2.
- Design and layout: separation of content and representation, contrasting font and background and colours, and the use of relative units to resize text.
- Text alternative for non-text content: images are provided with an alternative text via the ALT property. In the case of purely decorative images, the ALT property is empty.
- Browsing without JavaScript: ant alternative is offered so that users whose JavaScript is disabled can access most of the information and browse the entire Ikastea portal. However, the dynamic of certain features of the portal, such as the search engines, require JavaScript to function, and since the Liferay platform is Java based users without JavaScript are not guaranteed access to the forums and other specific Liferay items, despite conforming to WCAG 2.0 standards.

Euskadi.net Accessibility Policy

The aims of our accessibility policy is to ensure that the various Euskadi.net web-portals conform to WCAG 2.0 standards.

Why WCAG 2.0?

We decided to adapt the Euskadi.net portals to the new WCAG 2.0 guidelines because they offer greater benefits than the initial W3C standard (WCAG 1.0). These are some of the benefits of WCAG 2.0:

•It is designded to meet current and future needs
•It is more precisely testable
•It is easier to use and understand
•It is applicable to more advanced technologies
•It is flexible and adaptable to different situations and developing technologies and techniques
